Felonious Tax Evasion – Recognition of Two Mitigating Circumstances

Apr 17, 2025

Thessaloniki Court of Appeal Criminal Division, Case No. 292/2025: Felonious tax evasion – recognition of two mitigating circumstances – sentence of only 18 months suspended imprisonment.

Our client, president of a basketball sports club competing in the A1 division, was defended by our attorney Dimitrios Arkoudis.

The charge involved issuing fictitious invoices exceeding €500,000, carrying a maximum penalty of up to six years’ imprisonment.

Accepting the defense’s arguments, the court acquitted the client of some charges, found him guilty on others, but recognized two mitigating circumstances.

Consequently, he was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with suspension (reduced from a three-year sentence at first instance).
